I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology from UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. I have been in practice since 1994 and have worked in major hospitals and clinics as well as taught at the university level. I am one of only 5 female psychologists in Austin who is Board Certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology, the highest level of accreditation available in my field. I currently hold an appointment at Texas State University as a practicum supervisor, training students in clinical skills including assessment and intervention. I also train post-doctoral residents in their final year towards licensure in Texas at the doctorate level.
My approach to therapy is collaborative and often involves using some assessment in the beginning to better define the problems and goals of therapy. Additionally I have completed Level 1 and Level 2 of the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy as developed by Stan Tatkin, PsyD (www.stantakin.com).
I have also been married for 14 years and have two children. These personal experiences have helped me to have a deep appreciation for the challenges (and joys!) of long-term committed relationships.
